Angela Locke holds an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Northumbria, and is a highly qualified teacher. She has been the Creative Writing Tutor for Mungrisdale Writers Group since founding it with local writers in 1998. The writers meet regularly at the Mill Inn, Mungrisdale, which rests in a valley in the Northern fells beyond Keswick. Angela is also Walking columnist for Cumbria Life.

As a Writing tutor she also leads Creative Writing Workshops across Cumbria and the wider UK in hospitals, schools and in the community. Every year she leads a Writing/Painting Retreat on magical Iona - a sacred island which is one of the Inner Hebrides, off the island of Mull in Scotland- working with the internationally- renowned Hebridean painter John Watling. This is very popular retreat and she will be repeating the Retreat next spring/summer on Iona. If you would like more details of this five-day Retreat in Scotland, this will be available very soon. Work from the Iona Retreat is currently available on the Iona Page.

Angela is also President of the Juniper Trust, the charity (no: 1053356) which works in Education and Health in Nepal and across the developing world, with a committee based in Cumbria. In Patan, an old city on the edge of Katmandu, for example, JT have been installing water tanks and toilets in the 'barefoot schools'. In a remote region of Tibet, JT have been working with the charity Terma to staff and equip a clinic for mothers and children with TB.
